Not Happy....

Before... blogged this time last year under Images I like."This fabulous old porridge advert is on our corner milk bar. It's been featured in the local paper recently, some residents in the area are worried the proprietor is going to paint over it (which is totally his prerogative) Wouldn't it be nice if it was preserved for us all to enjoy."After....Images I DONT like. This girl agrees (along with most of Thornbury I reckon.) I have totally boycotted this shop now. Shame on you Milkbar man.

  1. Oh no that's horrible!
Why couldn't he just paint the window frames and leave the history there for all of us to enjoy?

  3. oh how horrid...
i really can't see why people can't at least see that something so wonderful like this could not at least have been restored if they thought it looked a bit shabby...
i'm sure it has only done them discredit...

  6. Oh bugger that ! How shortsighted. Why not paint the window frames red to match the (now lost) happy red stripe at footpath level , paint the sides if you must and leave the ad there in its glory...
Sometimes I think the world will end up looking like a supermarket!

  9. Just think - that facade survived over sixty years of the elements and wandering grafitti "artists", and all it took was some idiot with a can of beige paint to remove it from existence...

Where's the bloody National Trust when it actually matters??

  10. What is wrong with people? Why can't people (especially Australians) value old and interesting over new and so called 'nice'? I get so upset seeing this kind of thing.

  13. I almost cried when I saw the painters painting over the old signwriting. Just such a shame! Hopefully the paint falls off.
