Celebrating Animals and Blogs... and you get the prize!

This turned up the other day. I was 11 or 12 when I did this front cover for a school project. I'd written a whole section on on animal cruelty where I'd boldly criticized fox-hunting, circuses, vivisection, bullfighting, horse racing, zoos and dogs in space!
Watching my daughter, who is now the same age, create her projects on the computer with the internet, power-point, and word etc. I am just blown away at how much things have changed.
The reason I am celebrating is this blog has just hit post no. 100..... yay!
Initially I started to write this blog so I could keep a record of my work, and get the word out about my search for lino. So that in it's self has been a success. And in true blogging tradition, readers who leave a comment over the next week or so have the chance to Win one of these Betty Jo Owl brooches..........so drop me a line from any where in the world!

  4. Well didn't you have a calling . . . to think so little has changed in your style & passion for animals. Of course the designs have been refined, i feel so honoured to have seen some of your brooches in the flesh, so to speak, they are truely fantastic!! Must say, i used to always draw elaborate dresses on my simple people drawings as a child & my 8 y.o. is spending her valuable 'alone time' as she has a later bedtime than her 3 siblings, designing what she would have worn to the Melbourne Cup today. Who knows where all these ideas can take you?? I love being a mother, very much so through how my children remind me of my childhood, games & toys. Love Posie

  6. How wonderful to rediscover your original animal stylings! I have many memories of 'over the top' efforts for school projects - once I insisted on carving a wooden sarcophagus for the front cover of a project on Ancient Egypt. My mum thought I was crazy at the time but was very proud when it was finished!

I feel a little greedy posting with the chance of winning one of your beautiful owls, but I do really love them! Congrats on 100 posts - I love reading your blog :)
