This Is...from my childhood

Mt lovely old hand knitted Teddy has had a mention in a past blog post....I think he will join a big group of teddies and other raggedy soft toys for this weeks this is by tea cups on tree tops.
He was my first toy, and is pictured on the hand knitted rug my Nana made for me as a little girl. It still keeps me warm every winter. He likes hanging out with Sooty, my husbands first teddy, who needs plenty of TLC as he is very threadbare.
And from my other grandma, this pretty bluebird of happiness brooch. All I can say is its a miracle these things are still around. My mother liked to donate things to the op shop and I only have distant memories of other treasured possessions long gone.

  2. Ah, imagine the amount of love those two have absorbed. That and lots of kiddie dribble! They are so sweet. Nice that you both have kept them.
And I sooo hope my daughter doesn't think of me like that when she's older, that I gave all her good stuff to the op shop!! Note to self, keep the good stuff, keep the good stuff...

  4. Oh the stories your teddies could tell! I featured my teddy for this week's "this is", too - wouldn't it be wonderful if every child's dreams came true and teddies really did get together as we slept or were out, and played games and had fun?

I think it's lovely you still have so many things from your childhood - and what a nice touch to include your husband's as well!

  5. I think it's great that these two hang out together. BBF it looks like. I'm glad the two of you still have your cuddlies from childhood.

  10. That bluebird brooch is lovely. I found, at an op shop, the old swallow blue bird pattern in a pair of stud earrings. I am sure my mother had a brooch, which I adored, but like you, she (and I) are very good at turning over our possessions to the needy (ha).
