Saw the delightful Art Deco Exhibition at NGV yesterday. While I was swooning over the beautiful Bakelite jewellery I was thinking to myself how I'd love to unearth a piece in a dusty old bowl in an op shop..... but I must of said it out loud as I heard a lady chuckling next to me.

The show was crowded with all us members getting our free viewing, but in amongst the throng I happened to notice two Betty Jo brooches. One on a nice grandma, and one on a young trendy lass. What are the odds?

These Betty Jo "Three Big Scoops" brooches are heading up to
The Hive Gallery today. Bring on those balmy Gelato licking evenings at
Gelo Bar is all I can say!
Tee hee. I had heard that the nearest antique markets and stores were doing a roaring trade in all things Art Deco and -ish.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the odds of that happening? Did you introduce yourself as the lovely creator?
ReplyDeleteI nearly did,but got swept up in the crowd and then felt a bit shy. I don't usually get an attack of the shys, I'm not backward in coming forward most of the time!
ReplyDeletewhat a surprise that would have been. I am sure yr heart raced a little when you saw them...plus a big smile
ReplyDeleteoh i love a bit of art deco...i can imagine doing the same, even though at work i'm all chatty,i get a bit dum-struck in crowds...
ReplyDeletenothing wrong with talking out loud to yourself if it gives someone else a smile!! t.x
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny about the brooches! I was wearing my owl brooch in Kikki K one day, and the shop assistant was wearing one too (a pale yellow one).
ReplyDeleteI worse my birdie brooch to choir tonight, and I have never see a bunch of socialists go as ga-ga over something. They absolutely loved it. It may just get worn at our birthday concert on Sunday night, to impress the screaming hoards.
And the Hive is my local - I love going there, such a beautiful shop. Your stuff is right at home there!
