To Blog or not to Blog

Hooray for Soft Focus! I love my recently op-shopped embroidered shirt and Miss Bessie Babushka sits happily round my neck. I just uploaded this pic on Facebook and purposely cut out my face. Is this wrong?
I've been wondering about Facebook, and the Betty Jo Facebook page. Still not sure what I think about it. I can't actually measure it's value. Not sure about Myspace either and Etsy is getting confusing with the Aussie dollar and shipping costs.
It seems blogging is winning in the battle of cyberspace time consuming pursuits for me. Then Flickr comes a close second.
Any thoughts?

  1. Oh I totally agree - I like to blog, but facebook and myspace - eh. I think they are possibly effective, but it's timing too - so time consuming. Can't comment on etsy (apart from the fact that I love to shop there).

  2. I'm with you on the facebook and myspace. I never quite got it. I'm happy keeping up with the blog world.

I do like Etsy though! For shopping and selling.

  5. I'm a bit over Facebook and Myspace- but love blogging whether it be my crafty blog or my more hidden livejournal. I do find it hard to get a readership on my craft blog though.

  7. I find that Etsy takes a lot of time and effort if you really want to be successful.
I'm hoping Made It takes off so us locals can concentrate our efforts there.
Blogging wins for me. Its too much fun!

  10. Yep, bloggin wins hands down. Etsy, big job, finding your way in amongst tens of thousands of sellers... and not good for local sales with Aus$ But, still worthwhile to be a part of I feel. (Although, if I was trying to survive on etsy alone I'd have starved by now. so far - 5 sales!)

  11. Blog, Blog, BLOG :-) If you already have a following you don't really need anything else. But if you are just starting I had the most success with Twitter, second best success with Facebook (I don't like myspace because of the spam). Squidoo and Flickr are also both nice for showing off specific things. In the long run it all ends up back at the blog.

  12. I agree - it all comes back to the blog and everyone can drop in and out or just watch.. i have wondered about flickr as people seem to form groups and be discovered!!! but we only have time for so much and i managed to lock myself out of flickr twice???

  13. I love reading blogs but don't think about blogging things when I perhaps should. I think Facebook is then very useful for expanding your blog readership and the work done on FB to get your fan numbers up then spills over into your blog realm. Like Etsy for buying but selling is very time consuming. Working on getting Payvment up and running on FB where I can upload loads of items in one fell swoop using a .csv file. It's all on hold at the moment though while I work on my Father-i-l's book on his family history.
Your babushka looks lovely and I think the crop is perfectly fine: the focus was not intended to be your lovely face!
