Once I used to follow recipes, but now I rarely do. I like to experiment when cooking , but not in a precise scientific way. It's more free form, adding what's in season, and modifying my cakes to try new flavours. Does this make me a BAD cook Mr Jamie Oliver? I don't own a single one of your books I'm sorry to say.
The one recipe I would follow is this... You can't guess with a Pav. I bought the plate a few weeks ago
( probably don't need to mention where.. OK, the oppy) and like the fact that it goes straight from the oven to the table. No risk. No fuss!I also very much like this recipe book, but more for the illustrations. You may recognize this image from Lino Forest's Corner Shop. Some what ironic as I dislike going to butchers, looking at, and preparing red meat......Don't eat it either. Viva la Lentil!
Mmmm homemade pav! I could have a piece of that right now for brekkie. Fab plate.
ReplyDeletecant beat a pav! i like to experiment as well dosnet always work out but who likes rules?!
ReplyDeleteI think you have to be a mega good cook to bake a cake without a recipe! When I try that it's just a waste of expensive ingredients. I have all of Mr Oliver's book precisely because I'm NOT that good a cook! I had a friend write me her meatloaf recipe and I quote "A smidge' of this 'a squirly squoop' of that 'a splodge' of the other. Lesson? Never ask an intuitive cook for a recipe! t.xx
ReplyDeleteps LOVE the charity shop finds! Big slice of Pavlova for me please! t.x
ReplyDeletegot to LOVE the pav!!!
