It was very nice to find this article in FourThousand, which is Brisbane's version of Melbourne's Three Thousand. They are a weekly snapshot of your capital cities subculture! You can get it emailed to your inbox.
I particularly liked the category "Theft": Theft is inevitable:Buy two!
Has any one ever had their Betty Jo Designs jewellery nicked???? Hope not.
I know some pieces get lost, or damaged by toddlers. I'm very happy to repair or replace by the way! Won't cost much. I believe it's important you don't go for too long without your Betty Jo goodies.
Betty Jo Goods

"Oh, Betty Jo! With her charmingly-quirky designs gracing the pages of nearly every Australian fashion mag worth its name, it seems we just can't get enough of this Melbourne-based designer (real name Liz Jones, but don't tell anyone). Perhaps most famous for her handmade retro-look owl brooches, Miss Betty's jewellery really is the ultimate in creative, crafty, and cute-as-a-button (um, literally - as most of them utilise actual buttons to varying degrees).

Inspired by nature, kitsch and all things enchanting, Betty Jo's designs are individually created from completely recycled materials, including retro lino, laminex, doilies, and other bits and pieces from her grandma's old sewing box.

Pay a visit to her blog or MySpace and you can't help but be charmed by all the colour and wonder of her bric-a-brac world. Her latest range of brooches is like thrift shop kitsch come to life on your collar, including lamps, teapots, old telephones, cuckoo clocks, handbags, coats and a deliciously whole lot more.

Like the best little golden books, these sweet beauties will always leave you with a smile on your face. Get your loved ones one for Christmas and you might even get to borrow it..."

  1. Well done Liz!
Do you do sell prints of your creations? You really should, they photograph so well.
