today i'm writing in lower case because i've hurt my left- shift key- hand. so i am a one handed wonder.
it's majorly annoying to say the least.
but to add some sunday cheer, i'm offering up orange owl from my last post as a giveaway.
just leave a comment suggesting a name for owlie brooch, and i'll pick a winner next sunday.there's owlie, sitting under a mandarin segment and a vitamin c. tablet. my two best friends these last few days.
So cute!
ReplyDeleteI think that his name should be Hooter, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month coming in October.

Orangeade! He's so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteyesterday my boyfriend and I were sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast and my cat was pressed up against the window bird watching in the garden when we heard this enormous crash, and lo and behold, a tiny little honeyeater with yellow and ORANGE stripes on his face and tummy had flown straight into the window and knocked himself out cold onto the grass below. I instantly cried because I thought he was dead, but the bf went down and wrapped him in a towel and put him in a box on the verandah and assured me that he (who we subsequently named "bumpy" on account of his big smash into the window) was just in shock. so we watched him and looked after him for a good couple of hours as he regained consciousness, but he still couldn't walk or fly, and kept falling over onto his side and whimpering. it was terribly hard to watch, i hate seeing animals in pain. so after a while we decided maybe he was more injured than we thought and that we should take him to the RSPCA. we ran to get dressed as quickly as possible, and when we returned to the verandah, bumpy - who was previously immobile - had completely disappeared. we searched the garden but he was nowhere to be seen, so we assume he had flown away... Happy ending I know, but I would have liked a chance to say goodbye as I had grown quite fond of lil' bumpy.
ReplyDeleteSo, long story short, I would name the owl "Bumpy" in honour of my little friend... And though a different species (and yet to fly into the window) I think he has the same befuddled look and loveable quality. I'm also really really into orange at the moment :)

PS - and for all of you thinking it, NO, the cat did NOT get bumpy - she was locked inside the bedroom throughout this whole drama!
oh, its adorable!
ReplyDeleteHow about Odette if its a girlie owl or Sir Oliver if its a boy?
Hope you are on mend and feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI would called the owl Poppy after the beautiful orange poppies I received from my friends, cos Poppy Owl is just as beautiful.
Melissa

Rangger... as in the orange monkey thing :)
ReplyDeleteoh I hope you are on the mend. I like the name Mandarin
ReplyDeleteCan I sort through your collections...I think categorizing by color would be a great way to spend a fall afternoon. I don't know why, but Opie is the name that popped into my head. I like the feathers that look like fall leaves. And pumpkins come to mind when I see your little owl and bonfires and starry nights in the forest.
ReplyDeleteI think he is a Sunshine Owl or "Sunny" here to mark the coming of spring and summer in Australia.
ReplyDeleteI love the orange owl! The name "Tang" is the first that came to mind!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear your hand has improved (yes I'm behind in my reader), how about either Seville or Pippin (as in the oranges) or if he is a grown up owl how about Cointreau.
ReplyDeleteLOVING the orange theme, I have quite a collection of ceramics and plastics. YUM!
ReplyDeleteThe name Fergus is coming to me. He reminds me of a real life Fergus who I know that has orange hair and is the NICEST and most wise person ever!
He's lovely. I'm thinking he looks like a Gerald :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist any longer.... now for a name - how about Oscar for a boy or Octavia for a girl.
ReplyDeleteI think he looks like a Tom. =)
ReplyDeleteOo a name. Hmm. How about Bluey?
ReplyDeleteHe's gorgeous.
hope you are better soon. Tang came straight into my mind aswell!! can't think of anything else now. goodluck with the naming.
ReplyDeletehe looks like a Lawrence, or Laurie for short :-)
ReplyDeleteooh! orange is so lovely! cmon summer!!!
ReplyDelete"Jucie" cause thats what oranges are!
ReplyDeleteBrisket Bob. The rusty colours give him a meaty feel and also reminds me of Sideshow Bob's hair.
ReplyDeleteOh no hope your hand fixes itself soon!! I came via Buttons by Lou Lou... I think his name should be Blowfish... as in Hootie and the Blowfish hehe...
ReplyDeletexo Steph
gosh, lots of good suggestions here!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking like M* (Melanie), what about Red cos he's like a redhead and to state the bleeding obvious.
I do like Tess's very heartful story too.
Am I diminishing my chances of winning by referring to much better entries?
