Yesterday, on my evening dog walk, sure enough I spotted a big pile of this blue patterned lino all ready for the tip. But, as Chester is my Lino sniffer outer good luck charm, how could I miss it!
It would have been a lovely Oriental Linoleum Rug . A bit like these....

My pocket of the world has predominately free standing late Edwardian bijou weatherboard houses (real estate speak) in varying stages of renovation. And when there's a renovation going on, there is generally a polishing of the floorboards! So what often comes up (but mostly ends up in the skip) ? Yep, layers of old Lino circa 1920- 1950.
Here's my studio window at the front of my house(which once was a verandah and is the mirror image of Fred's house). This morning I did a photo shoot for this publication, and I had a piccie taken standing right here. Orange winged owl isn't always sitting there....he was just a prop. Because you need props in photos!
What a find. I hope Chester was rewarded with a nice big bone!
ReplyDeleteChester is amazing ! Perhaps you could train him to hunt for other things as well.....umm winning lottery numbers ?
ReplyDeleteWhat a score!! I am a bit nosey on my daily dog walk too, but we live in one of those Lego land new places, where it's all brand new homes on building blocks, so nothing to scavenge. Love Posie
ReplyDeleteThere are lino rugs? Well you learn something new everyday!
ReplyDeleteHehehe, at least his name is better than the usual Chester nickname! Chester the lino sniffer doesn't exactly rhyme, but I like the connotation (some dogs sniff worse places that that!!) Hope that's not to rude to put in the comments, sorry!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love finding stuff that's been renovated out of older houses.
ReplyDeleteWow I never realized they made such beautiful lino. I guess that's something to add to my scavenger list!
